About Me...
My name is Gina Beardsley and I’m a Self-Representing Artist in North Texas. I
am married to Jeff, a
very talented musician, software engineer and my very own bead design
consultant.
I was raised in an artistic family. My mother—as well as being a Graphic
Designer—taught art to children
at the local museum. As soon as I was able to hold a crayon, I joined her in
class and as I got older, became her assistant. What fun it is to share art
with children.
As an adult, I found stained glass and fell in love with the medium. I worked
for several years at a local stained glass gallery where I built custom windows
for homes, businesses and churches. I attended one of the three hour bead
making workshops offered at the shop, and found my new medium! I took home a
copy of “Passing the Flame” by Corina Tettinger and read it cover to cover.
Within a week, I had ordered my minor torch and all of the supplies to get
started. A month after that, I gave my notice at the gallery and never looked
back.
Goodness gracious, how exciting to make glass beads!
My Studio - this is where the magic happens!
I put up a wall dividing my garage in two and installed a window
unit air conditioner because Texas summers can be unbearable!
I use a Nortel Minor Bench Burner, an Oxygen concentrator and Propane
gas.
My kiln is a FuseBox 10 by EK Miller.
Ventilation - 2 650 cfm fans in this hood by Glasscraft, Inc.
Glass storage on bottom 2 shelves and above is where
I take photos of my beads if it isn't a sunny day. I try to take
my photographs outside in the sun but sometimes Mother Nature doesn't
cooperate. :-)
